Designing a flying and driving vehicle that can transform to overcome obstacles

As part of a research project involving the UMD UAS Test Site, a vehicle was designed to be able to fly and drive. This vehicle can transform between a rover and a quad copter in order to operate in conditions in which flight is not an ideal form of movement, and to be able to reach places that a ground rover cannot. Applications for this vehicle include search and rescue, exploration, inspections and more.
About the Robotics Student Seminars
The Robotics Student Seminars at the University of Maryland College Park are a student-run series of talks given by current robotics students.
The purpose of these talks is to:
- Encourage interaction between Robotics students from different subfields;
- Provide an opportunity for Robotics students to be aware of and possibly get involved in the research their peers are conducting;
- Provide an opportunity for Robotics students to receive feedback on their current research;
- Provide speaking opportunities for Robotics students.
